Le Beau has a beautiful French-style verandah overlooking the river In spring the Jacaranda tree flowering makes it even more special.
It is a truth universally acknowledged that when travelling through a small country town, one must indulge in scones with jam (and cream).
A lovely location not matched by the Sunday lunch experience. There were few light choices on the menu, ie sandwiches, salads or wraps. My bagel was dry and the long black poorly made and tasteless. Staff were friendly but service was inefficient.
After our lunch at another venue we walked the main street looking for a suitable place for a coffee. We were very fortunate we came across Common Grounds as it is now named. We sat outside on the covered back verandah with views of the river and were fortunate it was a warm sunny day despite being winter - it was a delightfully warm spot to relax and enjoy the coffee. The coffee was one of the best I've tasted and the range of sweet goodies were irresistible. We tried the lemon tart and caramel slice. Service was relaxed and friendly and as one of our drink orders was inadvertently forgotten, they told us it was "on the house" when they brought it out to us. We did peek at the lunch menu and liked the choices, so will look forward to visiting again. This time for lunch and more of the excellent coffees.
