Oriel Bistro - Youghal

We visited this bistro while guests at the hotel. Even though there was a limited menu, they got our order wrong. They tried to charge us for an item we did not order, did not touch and sent back immediately. Even though it was brought to their attention, it still appeared on our bill. Server literally rolled her eyes when we asked that it be taken off the bill. Do people normally pay for food items they did not order? Four food items ordered for four people…so why were we brought a fifth? Three people were taking our order and four were serving us so we were not surprised about the confusion but very taken aback with the negative attitude which was less than customary for the hotel. Otherwise, the food was delicious, especially the soups, but there were very limited options.

We weren 't sure if it was open when we walked in as there was no host but we asked a lovely lady who was setting up behind a counter and she told us to take a seat and she 'd be right over. We just had tea and cake however my mother urged me to write about their scones, now my mother is a very hard to please chef and when I tell you she never likes anyone else scones I 'm not exaggerating. She only ever likes her own and she said that theirs were perfect High praise indeed, never in 30+ years have I heard it. Also it was my sisters birthday and of course we made her wear a giant badge and the staff took the time to write happy birthday on her cake plate which was very sweet and thoughtful of them. Much appreciated.

Had a dinner there while staying in the hotel. Food was good and tasty. Service was slow though. Portions were very generous especially for starters and desserts.

The food at Oriel Bar&Bistro was really good and service was brilliant with friendly staff were you felt safe and taken care of.They do the best cocktails as well. I would highly recommend .

Visited in first three months after opening. Still laugh about it it was hilariously bad. Couldn’t get attention of waiting staff for about twenty minutes. Sommelier asked us to choose a different wine as she couldn’t find what we had ordered again after a long delay. Much to our surprise she later returned with our first choice. On being served dishes we hadn’t ordered for the second time (having been asked to go outside for a break after the first incorrect serving), the manager was busily berating me for saying that I hadn’t ordered what he was insisting I took when, luckily for me, the couple at the table next to us intervened and said that we were being served what they had ordered!
