Doyles - Youghal

As a child I used to be a frequent visitor to Doyle's fish and chip shop. In fact, I remember fondly being served freshly fried whiting and chips.They were great. Alas, those days are long gone. On a recent visit to Youghal we arrived late...and both the Priory and Roma Grill, our preferred options, were closed. So we went to Doyle's. We ordered what I was told was fresh cod but this turned out to be pre-battered cod from the freezer which was then deep fried.Utterly dreadful. I'm not even sure that the chips were freshly made – my guess is that they are bought in. The rest of the menu nowadays is about pizza, burgers and fried chicken.What a shame!

There is nothing better than visiting a fishing village, and eating from the local chippery (take away) by the water. The serve of fresh cods was huge fed the both of us as was the freshly cut and crisp chippies, we spoiled ourselves and tried...the potato scallops and battered saucie, the scallops were truly to die for as was said in a previous review. the were friendly and prompt, and the locals being quite colourful characters.

Food is always good, some of there staff leave a lot to be desired with the regards if there costumer service.

Many have eaten a time over the years, was a more regular at a stage. but since the revision it is really hit and missing. Now, it is not lacking the place to eat here, but its failure in the fact that if. they order the same thing twice, it will not cost the same. seems to depend on who works on the day. . usually very good quality, usually very tasty eating, in which very tasty, but each so often they can be let down. a little on the expensive side also in comparison to other takeaways in youghal, but his probably also one of the only irish-owned takeaway (not racist, but all others are either in the possession of Eastern European or Asian). I would recommend deffo if they were in the opposite and chic good ould fish and chips

They have come here for years with my own parents and now as a parent and must admit that eating is always excellent and fresh. they have to cook to order, because everything is always hot and tastes so fresh. it's great,...they have the opportunity to sit in and enjoy eating now as they added a sitting area from the back. the personal is always nice and friendly and they never wait long for her to eat after her order. will not be back in the future.
