I am not certain if the restaurant is still open as I write this review.
We used to come here rather frequently a couple years ago for great sushi at an affordable price.
The owner of this restaurant is often present, greeting customers and asking how their day is going. They are dedicated and also involved in supporting the local community in their own unique way. While the service is quick during lunchtime, there always seem to be empty tables. The food is good but not exceptional, which could be the main issue. The sushi is decent and well-prepared, but lacks that special touch. However, the soup is disappointing. I would not recommend this place if you enjoy a good soup before your sushi. It seems like corners have been cut in some areas. Despite this, I have returned multiple times for the efficient service and convenience for lunch meetings. The quality is average and the owner works hard. If it weren't for my soft spot for owners who strive to make a difference in a tough market and improve their community beyond their business, I may not have given this place a third chance.
I haven't been to this White Rock restaurant in over a year, and I had no desire to return. The service was slow and the restaurant was empty both when we arrived and when we left. The tempura was not cooked properly, as it was tough and difficult to break apart. The chicken noodle dish we ordered was hot, but the chicken pieces were dry and overcooked. The food lacked flavor, except for the added soy and wasabi. Overall, it was overpriced for the quality we received. I would not recommend this place.
