Roots Cafe - Westbrook

It's not too often that I fall in love with a place that I write a review before I even go, but this point did that for me! It's a fuke I landed here and drove 20 minutes out of my way, because after an appointment in downtown Portland I was thrilled to try a new place for breakfast. When I walked a few blocks, I finally found a business whose "Massak's mandated" shield said it was because of the city of Portland that it... again. OK, looks like I have to get out of town, because I don't spend my money on companies that push their misguided “health” ideals on me. I did a quick search in Westbrook, and Roots was one of the first cafes to show up. Good luck! Not only do they let us be free to share positive vibes by SMILING, they only serve organic coffee, make their food from scratch, and all their pastries are gluten-free for those who need it. It is a beautifully designed, somewhat large café that seems to be connected to a church next door, but I do not think that, although I am not religious myself. It's about spreading love here! Even their salt and pepper shakers! I will be happy to come out of the way to visit Roots when you come to the Portland area!

This place is amazing. If you need a cup of coffee, they have it! Are you a professional who likes to work in a coffee shop? You accredit! There are high tips for individuals. Place is beautiful, with a good terrace, and the staff is so friendly and welcoming, it really invites you to come again and again! Eating is really good, and they have many healthy options. I can't recommend this place enough.

My daughter, who has Celiac disease, breathed a sigh of relief to go only in Roots Cafe. She was so happy to have a place where she can eat on the menu and you can't even say that the food is GF SO DELICIOUS! We came to breakfast 2 morning in a row while we were in town. The place is so clean, and love all wood and decor of this place. I wish they had a Roots Cafe in Chicago!

So a great place for so many GF options! Many iced tea flavors, and som many desserts! Go and enjoy everything!

Wow, I'll absolutely be back. Food was excellent, coffee was SUPERB, and service was fast, pleasant, and clean even on a busy Saturday morning. They didn't stop me from having my dog on the patio, but there's a dog park around the corner if that's a problem. The shop ethos is lovely, and the lending library next door is wonderful, too!
