Scratch Baking Co - South Portland

The Maine sea salt bagel is truly exceptional; I don't think it can be surpassed. People often chuckle when I claim that the best bagels can be found in Portland, but I never hear any complaints after they've grabbed a dozen on their way north. All I hear are appreciative mumbles of enjoyment.

I visited for the first time this morning and was amazed by the long line stretching down the sidewalk. After trying a bagel, I understood why! They serve the best bagels and scones I’ve ever had, without a doubt! Plus, their system is very efficient at getting customers through quickly.

Some might say the bagels are too bready but I love them. The new space is set up well, so the line moves quickly. I haven’t seen as many vegan baked options recently but there’s always something.

One of my favorite places for lunch or sweets. Great array of delicious sweets here! And, they make a mean Cuban. Some sandwiches and alternating soups. Amazing salads with fresh veggies!

Great place, friendly service! Go early though, it gets busy quickly
