The Sushi Bar - West Vancouver

Eight of us went to the Sushi Bar yesterday. We got there at 11:40 am and there was nobody else in the restaurant except a young woman waiting for take-out. We ordered 2 ramen soups for the children as they were hungry. We waited 45 minutes for the Ramen soup. The rest of us ordered approximately 20 minutes later and it took us another 40 minutes or so to get our meals. We had to ask for tea (they didn't serve it to us as we were seated). We also had to ask for the little platters to put the soya sauce in. AND, we had to ask for plates for our food. I was extremely irritated and will never return to that restaurant.

We started with miso soup and then had prawn tempura. Then came the special rolls. Rainbow roll, dragon roll, California roll, crunch roll, dynamite roll. The sushi and sashimi followed. I remember someone ordered pot stickers and a scallop roll. There was beer. Really there was so much wonderful food arriving at our table it became a blur. When they added up the bill it was less than $100 with tax and tip for the 4 of us. What a bargain, and it was all so delicious. No fancy decor or dishes, just lots of wonderful food for a great price.

Sono stata in questo ristorante x fare un pranzo veloce. Infatti sono stati velocissimi meno di 10min x avere il Chicken teriyaki combo. Nell'attesa mi hanno portato la miso soup l'acqua. I prezzi sono nella media, mi è piaciuta composizione del piatto.

I've been going here for many years now. The sushi is always good but the service has gone downhill. When last there the waitress was talking on the phone as we tried to order...the order was wrong and she became angry at us for "not ordering right!" She seemed resentful for us even being in the restaurant, let alone having to serve us. All in all made for a very uncomfortable dining experience that took away from being able to enjoy the food...sadly this is not the first time the service has been this way...so the search begins for a new sushi joint.

This is by far my favourite sushi place in all of Vancouver. It's our regular spot for a few reasons:- They serve wild salmon only, and it's the same price as other place's farmed salmon. The quality is SO good, the sashimi melts in your mouth like butter!- Their food display is AMAZING! They do crabs and butterflies with carrots, they have tea lights wrapped in cucumber lanterns, pinweels out of radish, etc. etc. It's beautiful. - They're very reasonably priced. We have plenty of food for the two of us for under $30. Great value!Our usual dishes are the dynamite rolls (perfect balance of shrimp tempura, crunchy lettuce, etc.) and the imperial roll. The imperial roll is definitely my favourite. By the way. The cover photo of this listing with the chef dressed in black behind the bar is NOT the right restaurant. The Sushi Bar is much less flashy than that. It's more of a standard, mom and pop sushi spot.
