Brown's Clam Shanty - Wells

The checkout experience stood out for its friendly and clear communication, and the staff was thorough in their service. My order was prepared for pickup in a very reasonable time. The lobster roll itself was generous and fresh, served with one option of butter and one with mayo. It was simple and tasty, without any surprising seasonings or extra flavors, which I consider a good thing. However, I found the chowder not as clean-tasting as I had hoped, but it was acceptable. Many local spots tend to use a basic product and overcomplicate it, but I felt that the potatoes in the chowder had been boiled a bit too long, resulting in a slightly grainy texture. I also ordered cheese with bacon, which was made from excellent, authentic cheese, but it became a solid block that was difficult to eat. Liquid cheese might have been a better choice for ease of consumption. Overall, it was a positive experience, with friendly service being a standout feature.

We stayed at Moody Beach RV Campground, and just a short walk away, we discovered Brown's Clam Shanty on Route 1. What a hidden gem! The fried shrimp were tender and light, while the French fries were perfectly crisp and seasoned. Karen Audie's Double Swiss Mushroom Burger was juicy and flavorful. The portion sizes were just right (okay, maybe a little too much food!). The prices were surprisingly reasonable. We placed our orders and just had to tap again before our food was delivered, and the service was so pleasant and genuine. The staff even ran from the parking lot to bring us our orders, taking the time to check on us while we enjoyed our take-out. They really made us feel welcome. I’m not sure if the whole family was working, but they felt like one. Thank you for serving us so well, especially in these challenging times!

The lobster roll and clam chowder were both excellent. The lobster roll was packed with plenty of lobster meat, and you could choose between butter or mayo. The BBQ chicken package was also very tasty. You place your order at the window, then find a seat either indoors or outdoors, and they bring the food to you. We will definitely return!

The food was great. Fresh and ready. They had some specialties with fried fish and lobster rolls... just delicious. The staff was super friendly. Sit outside, enough distance from other people.

We were staying in the area and decided to stop in for a quick bite. The fried clams and scallops were delicious!! Definitely will be returning!
