A beetroot burger on brioche bun was large moist and delicious and accompanied by a rice salad as a side. The double expresso was one of the best coffees I've had in my life. Crema was almost sweet and no horrible bitter taste. Free water accompanied the meal too. This place is a credit to the owner. Spread the work people and come down and try it.
My wife and I have been vegetarian for the last 30 years and we avidly seek out good vege restaurants. This is one of the best we've ever encountered. The food is delicious, inexpensive and clearly very healthy. Moreover the owner is a lovely chap. Five stars all round. We eat at the Hairy Lentil whenever we're in Waroona. If you're passing through on the way down South, make a point of trying the cuisine.
Had lunch today and was wowed by the food, atmosphere and staff. I thoroughly endorse everything that has already been said about The Hairy Lentil, it could stand proud anywhere in the world!
Every time I walk into the Hairy Lentil, I am instantly taken back to my time living on Chapel Street in Melbourne. It's funky decor, friendly staff, great coffee and delicious vegetarian and raw food would not be out of place in the hippest part of Melbourne, and is a rare find in a little town like Waroona. The coffee is excellent, and there are a wide range of pukka teas to try. The raw cakes and slices are amazingly good - my favourite is the raw caramel slice - but you have to be quick as it regularly sells out! I also love the frittatas, savoury tarts, vego pies and pizzas. The owner Mark is a real character, and has a knack for banter that can instantly make you feel happy, making this cafe not just a cup of coffee, but a vibrant and welcoming spot to escape to. The other staff are lovely too, and very accommodating to small children (although I prefer to go without mine when I can ;)).Only an hour and ten minutes from Perth on the South Western Highway, it's definitely worth stopping on your way down south for a bite to eat, a coffee and a chat. You won't be disappointed.
