Raw Balance - Turangi

It was a wonderful surprise to discover vegan options on our trip. The staff was lovely and the food was delicious. We hope to return in the future.

We visited Raw Balance in the late morning and were pleasantly surprised. While the place itself is nothing fancy, there is a good selection of food and drink. We ordered coffee and wraps (falafel and a side) to take away, but ended up sitting at a picnic table in the mini-golf area next door. The smoothie was made by the owner's sister (who also runs Tee Happy in Rotorua) and it was amazing! The falafel, made in-house, was also delicious. The soy milk coffees were also great. In the cabinet, there were raw desserts and hearty meals like chili and quinoa salad. The owners were friendly and it was a nice chat. I would definitely recommend Raw Balance.

This café is the best vegan option within a mile of this rural area. They offer a fantastic variety of herbal cakes, gorgeous salads, and a delicious vegan burger. The coffee is amazing and the hosts, Robert and Monika, are wonderful. It is definitely worth a visit to see them spreading the message of good food in the midst of hunting and fishing country. Bravo!

My life was complete with Monika's Dahl and rice. Two sizes, decided ambitiously for the larger ones. I had no torments eating the rest for my dinner. Very generous portions. Super friendly couple. I wish I could have returned to try their other tasty looking salads and dishes, but I was just through the area. Hot and cold options, all nourishing and healthy, the a nice change from the vegan junk food that seems to dominate the vegan scene in NZ (especially away from the capitals). 100% recommended.
