This lovely pub is a perfect blend of classic tradition and modern flair, with charming decor that exudes nostalgia. The staff is incredibly friendly, welcoming, and attentive, providing excellent service. Our group of six enjoyed generous and delicious meals (so good that I forgot to take photos), with vegetarian options available. With a salad bar and a diverse menu, this pub is a must-visit for your next day trip. Whether you're in search of a Sunday roast, a wine and cheese afternoon, or a Friday night football game, they have it all covered. Located just over an hour's drive from Adelaide, this charming town is definitely worth a visit, not just for the pub but for the breathtaking views along the way. The cheese platter pictured was a great value at $12.
Back again for for Sunday Lunch. Once again left very happy with a full stomach. Great value for money. $15 for soup and a roast dinner. With help yourself veggies and salad. Add $5 and you can have a dessert. Fantastic feed.
We decided on this venue for lunch as it was on high street. What a gem!! From the moment we walked in the door we were made to feel welcome, even when it was close to the end of their lunch trade. Their Sunday lunch specials were extremely reasonable as is their main menu. Plenty of choices. The salad bar was small but the salads were very fresh and tasty. There was a good range of hot veggies as well. We were extremely happy with the service, the food, the atmosphere and the value for money. There were a couple of choices for desserts at very reasonable prices. The staff were very friendly and hospitable. We will definitely return to sample more of their menu.
Despite an unprepossessing exterior the inside of this hotel is charming, with stone walls, a nice big fireplace and old-fashioned dark wood tables. We were lucky enough to get a table on a recent Sunday arvo visit to Strath, as this place books out fast. Indeed, we arrived at the restaurant opening time of 6pm and within 10 minutes every table was taken, so book ahead if you want to be sure of getting a meal. The staff were friendly, the menu fairly extensive, and the food was great. I have been here before (hence the second visit), and last time we had the excellent Sunday roast lunch (an absolute steal, check out the specials board). I think we paid $12 or it might have been $15 for 3 courses. This time around we had the schnitzel, and again the food was excellent. The salad bar is small but beautifully cooked, - the night we were there they offered potatoes in cream, cauli and broccoli bake, carrots, peas, a variety of salad items and lovely fresh bread rolls. If you want a charming venue, excellent service and great food at good prices, you really can't go past The Commercial Hotel in Strathalbyn.
