We loved all the food—it was clear they take great pride in their service, and each dish was prepared to perfection. We've dined all across the USA, and this restaurant ranks among the best in terms of food, service, and presentation. We also appreciated the historical home and the effort that has gone into its beautiful decor. There's so much to admire in each room. Do yourself a favor and make reservations for a delightful evening. They also accommodate any special dietary needs you may have. This is a fine dining experience with freshly prepared food.
Exceptional dining experience. The charming old house added to the ambiance. Both the waitstaff and owner were extremely accommodating, making the birthday celebration truly memorable.
My boyfriend's lamb was gamey and overcooked. In the year I've been with him, he has never failed to offer me a bite of his food (it's kind of our thing). He always clears his plate, but neither of those things happened this time. I felt really sad because I chose the restaurant, while he picked the bed and breakfast, and I felt like I let him down. My filet mignon was absolutely not filet mignon. I've ordered filet mignon before and even cooked it myself. Never in my life has it had the consistency and flavor of roast beef. The vegetables were clearly frozen and unseasoned (seriously, couldn't they have sautéed them in butter and garlic?). The mashed potatoes tasted like instant mashed potatoes. I have been poor and struggled; I can recognize frozen veggies and powdered potatoes when I taste them. These sides were so basic – not difficult to make delicious – and there was zero effort put into them. The crab cakes were lovely, but I now question if they were also from the frozen food aisle. The cheese souffle was... okay? But somewhat flavorless. A dollop of crème fraîche and a sprinkle of chives might have improved it. The salad was just a salad. Dessert was decent, but I’m not much of a sweets person, so I won’t comment too much on that. I honestly found it hard to write this review because the service and the staff were lovely. However, we're still talking about this disappointing experience a month later, and I feel the owners need to know how let down we were. For the love of God, please use fresh vegetables, meats, and prepare your potatoes from scratch. Don't rely solely on being in a beautiful, historic home and hope that people won't notice you're serving them overpriced, lackluster food.
Had an excellent Easter lunch. Great experience. Best food I’ve had in town as a local in a long time. Out of town guests were very impressed. Would highly recommend. Can’t wait to go back!
I took my wife here for our anniversary and we had a lovely time. The experience is very intimate in sense of guests and seating. Before I get to the establishment I'd like to offer a couple considerations. Due to the limited amount of guest for the evening parking streetside right in front is easy. We did encounter some people that were patrolling the streets so make sure your situational awareness is turned on. You bring your own libations as they do not have their liquor license. We felt a bit awkward at first, but it's the norm here so that diminished quickly after arriving. When making reservations you will choose your entrees a few days ahead of time so plan accordingly. Now to the good stuff! Our table was one of four for the evening all set within a large entertaining room. The room itself is part of an old delightful restoration with a plethora of stories to be told every where you look. Our hosts were the right bit of a jovial refined bunch. My wife had the lamb and I the filet mignon, both were excellent and cooked to order. The dessert was sensation overload in a good way. All in all we had a delightful and unique experience.
