The First Ward House - St. Joseph

We love First Ward! We always have good service and good food. My older kids enjoy playing pool or Cornhole while we wait on food, and our youngest likes the classic pinball machine. Very chill, very laid back, a great stop at the end of a long day.

Hamburger came out hot and delicious. Took a while, because there were others ahead of us. Server substituted a small side salad at our request. Nice deck area, though some of the furniture was a bit worn.

The food was very good, and the service was OK, once they discovered that we had been sitting there for a while... we noticed that others who came in AFTER we did got immediate attention, presumably they were regulars, as the server greeted and chatted with them before taking their order. IDK, maybe it's just me, as a 1st time patron, but I was not impressed.

The food was really good and came out in a timely manner. The service was not good at all. Our server sat and talked on her phone for quite some time. At one point I got up from our table and went to the bar myself for a drink. It wasn't busy she was just more involved with her phone than the customers.

Went to pick up a to go order from this restaurant and was treated horribly by the pretty blonde waitress/bartender in the T-shirt dress. She came over and asked what was on the order, I proceeded to tell her what was on the order, mind you there were 4 items on the order. As I told her the first 2 items she rolled her eyes and said, “I got it” and walked away didn’t even let me finish. I waitressed for 10 years and never treated a customer in this way. Her customer service skills are horrible, not to mention the entire store front on St. Joseph Ave. was filthy. An embarrassment to the entire Northside if I do say so myself.
