We ordered two spicy tuna rolls $5.50), an eel avocado roll $5.50), a shrimp tempura roll $5.50), a chicken teriyaki entree $13.95), pan fried chicken dumplings $5.95), the buddha's feast entree $9.50), and the house lo mein $9.95). Pretty much all of it was excellent and I have no complaints. I have to start by singing the praises of the sushi. Seriously, it was spectacular and on par with any best sushi joints I've been to. There was a generous amount of fish and eel in each piece, and the rolls practically melt in your mouth. Totally worth it! The dumplings were awesome, too, and even though there was a sauce on the side, it wasn't even necessary as the dumplings were replete with flavor. I'd order them again in a heartbeat. I was also pleasantly surprised by the lo mein. It had beef, chicken, shrimp... and all in abundance. Big, plump pieces of shrimp scattered among shreds of flavorful beef... I'm still thinking about it! Solid choice you can't go wrong. Lastly, while I didn't eat in the restaurant so I can't speak to kitchen speeds or anything like that, I did meet Steve, the owner, and he was very polite and friendly. Really a nice guy! I don't know what other people leaving negative reviews are talking about but I can't wait to get Avenue East again.
Avenue East, please reopen! Memories of Honey Shrimp with Walnuts and Lo Mein with Vegtables missed! I just saw that you are temporarily closed please be true!!!
I used to order from here all the time but this place has really gone down hill. Last couple times I've ordered from here I've had issues but today is the last time I'll ever order from here again. I got a the Maki combo and my parents ordered a few dishes for themselves. When I got the sushi and opened the container I immediately was repulsed by the look and smell of it. The tuna was completely gray and smelled horrible. The avocado was half brown on each roll I called them and they said they could get me another to replace this one or give me credit to use now or in the future. I thought it was weird they didn't offer me a refund like they should have.. why would I want to order from you again?! With choices limited and not trusting to order another sushi dish I told them to get me a garlic shrimp entrée.. in the mean time, my parents who ordered different dishes where now questioning their dishes to see if everything was okay. When I got the order of garlic shrimp it tasted weird so I stopped halfway through but now I have a bad stomach ace and I'm regretting eating any of it. This experience really ruined dinner for everybody.
This is a BYOB spot I've been here several times over the past years. I've had good/ decent meals here although not the best I've ever had. I've never had bad service here. Even if there were any mishaps- apology and sweetness made it ok. This last time- ordered a Coconut juice. I had the sweetheart roll which was ok but pretty to look at I also had the chicken pad Thai which was also ok.
Despite the fact that I've been living in cranford for the majority of my life, I've actually never had food from this place before tonight. On a whim, I decided to try it. I ordered the chicken teriyaki and beef lo mein. The lo mein was fine, not bad but nothing to write home about. The chicken, however, was a different story. COMPLETELY flavorless. Despite the chicken clearly having the sauce coating it, it tasted like I was biting into a bland piece of grilled chicken. Nothing more. I honestly had to question if I had covid or not for a second. The menu boasted that they didn't use MSG, but maybe they need some
