Jackie's Place - San Jose

I've heard Jackie's Place has the Soul Food in the the South Bay. I might have to agree with that statement... I went to lunch with my boss, who happens to be from Houston. He whole heartedly agreed this was some legit Southern Texas BBQ. You can smell the BBQ aroma when you get to the back parking lot. While the parking lot isn't small, it fills up quickly, so beware...The venue is much bigger that it looks from the street. The interior was more spacious than I thought; with plenty of seating available, not to mention a full bar and an outside Patio as well. There isn't really any table service, you scan the QR code and order from your phone and a staff member will bring out your order. If you need something ask one of the staff members, they will gladly assist you. There are a couple of water stations along the wall with to go containers underneath.#TexasBBQ: EVERYTHING IS Bigger in Texas 4.5/5This was one Massive Sando! Talk about generous portions! The meatatarian in you will be screaming with joy. Everything tasted soo good; The Smoked Pulled Pork the Smoked Brisket just fell apart, so tender, juicy and flavorful. The Hot Links have a nice little kick to them. delish! EVERYTHING IS BIGGER IN TEXAS! I had to pack half of the sand to go...Side of Fried Fish Fillet... I'm presuming it's catfish 5/5 Fried Fish Fillet 5/5I'm so glad I was able to order a Side of Fried Fish Fillet. I did want to try it, especially since one of the staff members said it's one of his favorite items on the menu. I'm presuming it's catfish, wither way it was fried to perfection. Crisp and light without being too oily. key lime pie 4/5This was a bit different. I'm not sure if it's this is the way they make it. There wasn't a traditional crust on the bottom. Still...it was very tasty, not too sweet or tart.Now I need to return and try the fried Chicken.

Parking small n tight.Vibe n restaurant is awesome!We ordered a good amount of food so we can try it.Ribs, fried chicken, sweet potatoes, oxtail n fish were delicious.Pork, cornbread, gravy, and Mac n cheese didn't like.Also, order 2 deserts small n ok taste very pricey.I'd still would return to try other food.

The southern menu, fantastic service, so many nice people gathering to enjoy these exceptional dishes, what's not to like? It's my first time visiting, just sharing an upfront tip...unless your ordering to go, skip the first line and walk past it to a booth to check in. A friendly lady checked us in and sat us and explained how to order. There's a scan to place your order, and they bring your food out to you. The waitress answered our questions, and recommended the jack fruit barbecue sandwich since we don't eat red meat or pork. My hubby got the fried fish which he loved. I tried the jack fruit for the first time and so glad I did. The coleslaw is amazing too. You'll love this place if you're craving authentic southern barbecue. A couple next to us had the chicken and waffles, we already decided we're going back to have that. Yum

This was our first time being here and the host took her time explaining to us how it all works, there's no waiters like traditional restaurants but you order thru a link or you can go to the counter. They have self service for water and to go containers and everything moves pretty fast. The servers brought our food pretty fast and the portions are easily sharable and absolutely delicious. We tried the tri tip, brisket, bbq chicken, pulled pork, chicken wing and fried fish, chicken sandwich, and a variety of sides and desserts. The banana pudding was delicious as well as the peach lemonade. Well honestly everything was. Best fish I've EVER had. Will definitely be back

Best BBQ Beef brisket 5/5; juicy and soft. Oddly best fried fish, also. Smoky ribs. Great place for chicken and waffles. Every single plate I've tried was a 5 of 5. Clean and nice environment. Friendly staff. Fast service. Good portions.Parking: Tight parking lot but was able to find a spot right away on a Friday night. Street parking available.
