I chose the lamb shanks with mash & veggies. I didn't know what to expect from this unassuming cafe. It was delicious! My meal was served piping hot & with a generous serving. The veggies were vibrant and full of flavour. The corn was sweet & juicy, the yummy mash was creamy, the lamb just fell off the bone, broccoli & cauliflower just perfect & the gravy complimented the dish nicely. As you can see by my photo I cleaned my plate up pretty well.By the way, the cafe has clean decorated toilets that smell really nice, soft toilet paper & wonderful hand soap. I recommend Jules by the Lake to everyone. You have to eat here people!!! I'll be back for sure if I'm in the area.
Being in a suburban shopping strip, this place is popular with locals and worth a visit if you are in the area. We had a family dinner gathering of 10 including teenage kids and everyone was happy with the experience. The food is pretty standard style with a range of favorites prepared well and in large portions (a local norm) at moderate prices. The pasta carbonara was well balanced and the Thai green curry was fresh and spicy. There were a few impressive iced chocolate which caused some excitement too.It is BYO only and I expect that BYO beer would be ok. There is a bottle shop on the corner nearby. The owners are often in attendance (as with local restaurants) and are more than willing to discuss special needs and address any problems. The kids could not finish so we were offered takeaway containers for the left overs (which were eaten for breakfast the following day). The lake views are somewhat "filtered", but you certainly can see the water and there is always street parking available.Overall, a very comfortable and safe option for a decent meal out with family or friends.
Nice change with pleasant staff and a pretty good menu. BYO with a liquor store close by if you forget.
This little caf'e is just fabulous. The staff are very cheerful & friendly. Monday & Wednesday nights are $10 special nights with a choice of a T bone stake or Chicken schnitzel beautifully cooked, served with chips & salad or vegetables. BYO
Driving around former air base site at lunch time. Decided to have look in the Rathmines shopping centre, Saw Jules Café and went in. Will do that again. Roomy, spacious atmosphere. Service friendly and efficient. Good, interesting lunch menu with most reasonable prices. Quantities most generous. A really good feed. Progressively the number of people built up as we had lunch. 50 cent surcharge for use of eftpos.
