(There are even pictures on the menu which is a nice touch! Their ginger salad dressing is amazing. This restaurant is one of the few places I order a salad and get excited about it. Lol. The fresh spring rolls with chicken are perfect every time. The steamed butterflies are a hard to find menu item, and Pom's does it right every time. Soups to order easy all of them. You can't go wrong with a single curry from their menu. Definitely try the create your own stir fry you literally get your meal made exactly how you want, and no matter how many ingredient options you add to it, the price doesn't increase. I could go on and on as I said, the menu is massive. So many great options so I'm going to wrap up my recommendations here. I don't think there is a wrong choice at this restaurant. I highly recommend Poms! (Either location Portland or So Po
Pom's Thai Taste was a great find after a day of walking around and touring Portland. My husband and I split an order of drunken noodles with shrimp, fresh rolls with shrimp, and he had soup as well. I appreciated that the restaurant was open to us sharing, as we usually do this on vacation so we can try more spots and not have leftovers. The menu is large and overwhelming at first. Along with the main menu, the restaurant had a lot of specials and a good selection of alcoholic beverages even though we didn't partake. The food portions were great and the price was reasonable. The drunken noodles were delicious, likely homemade, and cooked perfectly, with large shrimp and an assortment of fresh vegetables. I liked how the fresh rolls were in small pieces that made them easy to split as an appetizer. I tried a bit of my husband's soup and it was flavorful as well. This restaurant is located downtown so they do not have a parking lot, but garages and street spots are nearby. Pom's has another location across the bridge with parking that is more suited for residents and locals, so you wouldn't have to drive downtown.
I was here almost ten years ago on a vacation; since then I moved to Maine and frequented the Thai Taste location in South Portland on Cottage Rd, mostly for takeout (and loved it). I think this is the first I've been back to this location! Pom's easily matches its sister across the bridge in quality of both the food and customer service. I ordered the steamed butterflies, which was amazing steamed chicken and peanut dumplings with soy sauce and drunken noodles with fried tofu (I wasn't feeling adventurous today). It was great, but too spicy for my taste. The food came out very quickly, but the restaurant was sorely understaffed only two waitstaff, who both seemed to be doing kitchen work as well. As the restaurant started to fill with tables, they really seemed overwhelmed. This only affected me directly in that I was hoping for a refill on my water glass (my food was THAT spicy). I look forward to coming back again and again the menu is enormous! But maybe I'll just stick to takeout until the world is functional again.
Came here randomly on a night out , Everything you'll want in Thai food , fresh, tasty and very flavorful. Pricing good , place looks amazing , staff friendly and service is fast . Little underrated gem if you find yourself walking passed a lot just head in and enjoy . I would recommend the pineapple fried rice and the Thai tea is one of the best going
Such a lovely place and the service was excellent. The food was very delicious and authentic. Loved dining here so much and would definitely come again!
