Amici - New York

Great food and very Italian! Will always book at Amici II if in the city.

Maitre D/Owner sat at a table near a bay window overlooking Mulberry Street. He was then outside the restaurant and spoke with possible moors as they passed and checked the menu board. My appetizer (Octopus salad) was excellent and when people walked from me, I gave a thumb to those who passed and gave them a wave to come!! When I arrived, there were only two tables that were occupied in 30 minutes, another dozen people came... maybe with my encouragement!! one of the couples who came in asked me if I was paid for my efforts... I told them no, I let the food speak for themselves and told them that they would not be disappointed, I spoke to some Italians with the owner, but this is not a prerequisite for you to enjoy the place....no intention, just good!!

We were greeted warmly by the owner. The restaurant was crowded but they made room for our party of five. It took quite a long time after ordering to get our food but it’s certainly possible that the kitchen was slammed. Each of us had a slightly different response to our entree — from OK to pretty good.

Place is closed for renovation not sure why open table takes reservations The next store was just as good.

We were welcomed as if we were family. Food was spectacular.
