La Coquille - Munsey Park

Food has always been delicious: chef makes outstanding soups; halibut is aways prepared in an interesting manner and perfectly fresh; duck a l'orange is best anywhere. Bread is warm; nice selection of desserts--excellent chocolate mousse. Service is friendly and accomodating.

First time here and will definitely return. The food was excellent and service very good.

Another wonderful night at La Coquille with friends, delicious food, and friendly professional staff. The fish dishes are excellent. All our dinners were done perfectly. Can't wait to go back.

We haven't been to La Coquille in many years but I think that will change. Very wide variety of classic French dishes on the menu and are open to changing up sides for main courses. Caesar salad was chopped up more than most places but served lightly dressed as requested. Foie gras was a good size portion but lacked a good accompaniment (a fruit of some sort and thinner bread). Roast chicken had a terrific crispy crust and the sides I chose, frites and French green beans were excellent. Shared a Napoleon for dessert and brought back half (made with whipped creme instead of a heavier filling). Not badly priced. Waiter was efficient and friendly.

I decided to take my mother here on Mother's Day because this was one of her favorite restaurants in Manhasset. When we arrived there were two families ahead of us. When the it was our turn the host/waiter ask us if we had a reservation( which I did), but I found it very odd he asked only us. We were seated after about 15- 20 mins of waiting. We were seated in an area that had about five tables to one waiter. In the beginning everything seem fine. We order our food and drinks smoothly. I ordered the a Caesar salad as an appetizer and a well done salmon for as entree and my mother ordered filet of sole en croute and a carrot cake for dessert. My salmon wasn't well done and the potatoes were a little too hard. I also noticed that they didn't have the full menu. I'm assuming it was because it was Mother's Day weekend. Ambience/service: The table next to us was furious with our waiter and caused a scene. The waiter seemed even keel and handled the situation very well. Since the waiter seem to diffuse the problem, he spend most of his time on that table. Remember there are five tables in this one section. So it was hard to get our waiters attention when we want to get the bill. We waited for the bill for about 20 mins. When we received the bill it was incorrect( one of the issue with the table next to us). Also, I asked for my mother's food to be wrapped to go and we never received it. As we were leaving the host was giving out some flowers to the mothers and no one gave my mother a flower or said happy Mother's Day to us. Overall, the food and the service has changed.
