I asked for gravy of curry goat which I liked the most. My next visit I ordered medium size curry goat and it tasted way better than golden krust cause that’s the only place I know where to buy Jamaican food from lol. Anyways I was told not to go to Mt.Vernon at night cause it’s dangerous I ignored that warning. I had to buy a curry goat so I did. Funny thing there was a line of people and I witnessed some unexpected interaction with customer and server. I was warned about the people. No complaints about that except for when the server is rushing to get me out I wasn’t done ordering.Since I’m the only non black buying food there the person in front of me let me order first. Every single person ahead of me is ordering curry goat. That was my main purpose of going there to get platter of curry goat and it didn’t disappoint. The taste was on point fair price and I ordered extra chicken wing and a thigh. She gave me more than I asked for which I appreciate. Will definitely come back again to try the oxtail but during daylight. ? ??
Decent food, however the prices are ridiculous. A restaurant without a menu makes no sense, all you see are what they charge extra for. Only a Jamaican restaurant would charge extra for gravy and LETTUCE.
The meat tasted stale the rice was clumpy. People ahead of me with darker complexion we’re getting fair amount of both rice and meats. When it came time to serve me, every time I asked for something, all the staff in the back laughed (rude). I don’t have an accent and I speak in complete sentences (that should have been my cue to walk out) but Ididn’t listen to my instinct. I ordered chicken soup, but what I received was more of a potato soup. I ordered akee and salted fish (the lady who continuously mocked me gave me 3/4 of a spoon of the akee and salted fish and filled my plate 95% of rice). The same happened with the rest of my orders. The rice was crunchy. Conclusion, if you want to be discriminated and over pay for mostly rice and potatoes, then this is the perfect place for you. Otherwise, there are other Caribbean restaurants in Mount Vernon and Bronx where prices are reasonable and you will be treated humanely. PS. They charge extra if you want oxtail sauce in your rice or food. I wish there was a -10 star option.
The waitresses are rude they never have water and when it's crowded they're in the kitchen talking not serving worst customer service.
Came in yesterday and the lady serving around 3:15pm lightskin Jamaican women was disgustingly rude . Music they were listening to was too loud to the point I had to yell out my order tell them to turn it down . She shouldn’t be serving food , I don’t want all her negative nasty energy going into my food. Was ignoring us on purpose . Never again
