In summary, the vegan comfort food at this restaurant is perfectly seasoned. If I had to describe it in just five words.
Still a great option for vegan dining, but be cautious if you're getting takeout. You may end up driving home, only to find out they included the wrong item in your order.
Our family stayed 6 nights at Auberge La Porte Rouge, in Mt. Tremblant, Quebec. The food was excellent and the service outstanding. I would personally like to thank Martin and Jean Pierre, 2 waiters at Garcons Poeles. Their service was attentive and personal. When we requested substitutions, which was frequently because we don't like frites (French fries) or patates (which are included with the breakfast menu) Jean Pierre and Martin were only too happy to add extra salad or more fruit cocktail in place of the frites. The only dish I wouldn't recommend in the lamb shank; all the others were first-rate. Also, I would like to add that we have been coming to Mt. Tremblant to ski during the March Break for the last 11 years and have always stayed at the Auberge La Porte Rouge, a wonderful inn, with a wonderful restaurant and 2 great waiters, Jean Pierre and Martin who both always went the extra mile to make a fabulous dining experience after a day of skiing. By the way, breakfast and dinner were included in the price of accommodation so you're getting fantastic value for your money.
This new restaurant is run by a well known local caterer as a concession in what from the front outside looks just like a nice clean highway motel (Auberge La Porte Rouge). There is only a small wooden sign indicating Garcons Poeles but the restaurant is much larger than it seems from the outside. The food is just delicious and so fresh (and lower priced than most other restaurants in the area). The pike came with a spur of the moment choice by the chef: Risotto which was well worth waiting for. The beef flank came with scrumptuous homemade fries. There is an outside terrace and a view on Mercier lake from the inside. The staff is courteous and helpful. This is the best restaurant I have found in awhile. The hotel website has not been updated yet and still mentions the former restaurant.
