The food was very good and absolutely authentic (we just before spent two weeks in Italy), service and atmosphere are great too.One of us had bolognese sauce meat sauce, and was not happy with it mainly being tomato sauce and little meat that was not as expected. However all other meals were top of the line.
Very romantic destination. The food is absolutely amazing, and you even get to meet the Head Chef/Owner. He actually comes and takes your order. I mean, c'mon, who else is better than the guy who preps everything, knows everything about each of the 25 sauces, and then actually prepares the Meals! Had wanted to go there for ages!!! Finally, I made the reservation, and the rest is history.
Another fabulous night at Il Corsaro. Four of us with four different meals...all uniquely flavored and all excellent. Best Caesar salad ever and I don 't even like salads LOL. My meal was the beef and gorgonzola manicotti and it is addictive, so full of evenly balanced flavor. Desserts are too die for, avocado and homemade tiramisu are legendary. Great ambience, great team, great evening again. Maple Ridge is very lucky that Il Corsaro retired in our little town after a busy, long and very successful run in the heart of Little Italy in East Van on the Drive.
DO NOT PURCHASE TAKE OUT FROM THIS RESTAURANT. This pasta bar can't even cook spaghetti al dente. I purchased a take out spaghetti bolognese, and the spaghetti was overcooked to mush. When I called to complain the Il Corsaro Pasta Bar was not accommodating at all. After complaining about my dish being completely overcooked I was told over the phone that I must have let the pasta sit there before picking it up. Their accusation couldn't have been the case since I was told it would be ready in 30minutes, promptly arrived at the designated time, and then took it on a 4minutes drive back home since I live about 4blocks away. If anything waiting for service to pay for the food took longer. They do not take any responsibility, and would rather try to push the blame on a customer for their inconsistent cooking. Even after they realized my point this restaurant showed how little they care for their take out customers by saying that they would only be willing to reimburse me if I brought back the dish. Customer service seems to only apply if you dine in here. I have been to this restaurant a couple times as it is portrayed as a classy establishment here in Maple Ridge, however, after being told I must be the reason their pasta was mushy and overcooked I will no longer be coming back. Their manners and regard to customers is insulting.
We were in Maple Ridge for the day and had checked out this restaurant on line and the reviews seemed good overall. So we decided to try it. What a mistake! I ordered the gluten free pasta and white clam sauce with extra shrimp. The gluten free pasta is not pasta. It is gnocchi and it had the texture of paste. The clams and shrimp were very tiny mixed in with the white sauce. If you are going to list gluten free pasta on the menu, then serve gluten free pasta. I was told when I ordered, but I certainly expected better. My husband ordered the Veal Saltimbocca that came with the chef's choice of pasta. Which was rigatoni. It was better than my dish but not by much. Our friend ordered the spaghetti with Napoli sauce. She was the only one who enjoyed her food. The service was not any better than the food. We had arrived at 5 p.m. for an early dinner and the place was almost empty. It took over 45 min. for the server to take our order and then bring us our food. We had to get to a movie and had to ask for our bill a couple times to no avail. We finally had to go up to the counter and ask again for the bill for it to get brought to our table. We won't ever be coming back here again. Very disappointing.
