Przekaż informację zwrotnąHaving spent time previously scouring the books, I'd been wanting to try out the cafe. It was a relatively warm June day so I sat outside upstairs overlooking the river - nice. Nice coffee but I was disappointed with the amount of 'cheese' on the ham & cheese croissant. Honestly, I had to search for it!But with the bill being under $10, I'll be back for lunch AFTER I've chosen some more books. Oh & there was a lady there visiting the area with her small dog. I may be old fashioned, but I don't agree with dogs roaming around untethered in a restaurant, whether or not food is being eaten.
Love going here of a weekend and sitting out the back near the river in the sun, highly recommend it!
Thought my friend and I would try this cafe..first time as Maitland localsCoffee was yummy!Regular size coffee was very very small..large was a regular..need to change that..smallest regular coffee in Maitland! The back deck looking over the river is confusing not enough chairs for the number of tables and could do with a spruce up..the deck next door ..the orange tree cafe..makes the fave chair river deck look like the poor cousin..it was hot and no umberellas or shade..just a little confusing needs some attention..one high bar table could sit 6 only 2 chairs ..some tables no chairs ..perhaps a little price for meals..portions and add on bits .
Scones are soft, chewy, dense and moist - served with real cream and tasty jam. Coffee is full of flavour, good even without sugar or honey. Atmosphere is cosy with a wall full of old books and comfy seats - like the lamp and old clock. Staff are warm, personable and fun. Highly recommended location for quiet time with your best friend.
Yes, this cafe has a cosy appeal and a good menu choice, however this review is about a problem I experienced with my gluten-free order. I specifically requested gf toast with the omelette but was served sourdough on the same plate as the omelette. I queried this, the waiter wasn't sure, he checked with the kitchen and the sourdough was removed, but breadcrumbs remained. This is not acceptable for coeliac sufferers, but the comment from the waiter, "Is it a preference?", was inappropriate. I am a coeliac, but it should make no difference to the cafe; if a customer requests gf toast (as listed on their menu), there should be no mistake. The after effects of eating something that is not gf are extremely unpleasant and for some coeliacs, life threatening. Please be aware, and take gf orders seriously.
