Derby - Kells

I have visited Cabra many times over the past 10 years, always enjoying their excellent seasonal dishes and occasional evening meals in the main dining area. However, on a recent visit, I decided to try their bar food for a late lunch. Unfortunately, both my friend and I were equally disappointed with our meals. I ordered a Caesar salad, which was overly soggy and lacked flavor. I only managed to eat a few bites before giving up on it. My friend had the open steak sandwich, which was also underwhelming.

Husband and I ate dinner here rather than the main restaurant at the hotel. Was busy with guests drinking and eating appetizers until the main restaurant opened, then it emptied out. There is plenty of seating options, the place is cozy with fire places and...great views, staff were busy so service was kind of slow, but the drinks were well prices and the food hit the spot, we shared a salad which was enough for us moderately hungry travelers.

We went in for One after our walk and got a fireside seat, so nice. Would be nicer if the door to the Terrace area was a double porch type door because people coming in and out from time to time bought the cold draught...with them, only a small quirk to an otherwise perfectly friendly pub evening

Fabulous food as always, lovely friendly staff from you meet them at reception and all the way in to wherever you sit.Beautiful grounds too, attending a wedding here in August and know it will be a fab day.

I've eaten here a few times when showing my mum and my future mother in law around our wedding venue. Both of them absolutely loved the food (and the venue! the theme in the bar is lovely and it has a really warm atmosphere. Staff...are super friendly, can't do enough for you. They bring food out very quickly and clear tables quick so plates aren't left sitting for long. You HAVE to try the Caesar salad when you're here I personally hate caesar dressing, I find it too vinegary BUT this dressing is amazing!! I hear it even has an award, not surprised to hear that after tasting it. I've tried quite a few of the sandwiches and they're all lovely too made fresh!! Portions are massive too, a salad usually never fills me but they put so much chicken/bacon into it that it literally made me full for like 8 hours. 100% try the food when you're visiting Cabra Castle, you won't regret it!! So excited for my wedding guests to try the food here too!
