Texas Star Bakery - Galveston

This is a fantastic bakery! It's quite spacious, and after trying many bakeries around Houston, I can confidently say this one is the best so far. Galveston is home to a true hidden gem. The pink cakes and gingerbread pigs are absolutely delightful. If you find yourself on the island for a weekend or a business meeting, make sure to stop by and pick up some delicious treats at very reasonable prices—you won't regret it!

We took the long route to Baytown and hopped on the ferry to Bolivar. To our delight, the tamales were still hot over two and a half hours later when we got home. They tasted just as amazing as I remembered. The masa was incredibly moist and flavorful, and the pork was tender and delicious. I can't wait to go back for more!

We spent a week in Galveston and visited this place on our last day. I tried the Cherry Empanada, and it was absolutely incredible – so flaky and fresh that I could hardly believe it. My husband had the pink frost cake, which was moist and delicious. As Hispanics, we've had our fair share of Pan Dulces in Dallas, and I can confidently say we will definitely return here whenever we're in Galveston! This lady is a true master of Pan Dulce.
