Novo Modern Latin Table - Eugene

The service provided by our waitress was outstanding, however, the food left much to be desired. My companion ordered the tamale appetizers while I ordered the enchiladas. The tamale appetizers had a tough shell that made them difficult to eat, and my enchiladas lacked flavor. Despite the visually appealing presentation of the dishes, the high prices did not reflect the quality of the meals. Overall, we found that the food was not worth the cost.

My husband, some friends, and I had a horrible experience at NOVO restaurant. I will not be returning and will be warning others about my experience. We had a reservation for 6:00, but by 7:00, the waiter was hovering over us and trying to clear our plates before we had finished eating. I had to physically stop them from taking my utensil out of my hand. At 7:30, the manager informed us that we had to leave because another party with a reservation was waiting for our table. I have never been pushed out of a restaurant like this before in my life. There was no compensation offered, despite being told that reservations were only allowed for two hours - we had barely been there for one hour before being asked to leave. If they were going to rush us out, they should have provided faster service. While the food was good, the poor service and business practices will not allow them to survive in the long run.

On October 24th, we had a fabulous experience at The Keviche restaurant. I really enjoyed the pozole dish and we cleaned all our plates. Our server could benefit from better pronunciation of the menu items. Once our order was finally taken, the service was very slow, even though the restaurant was not full and there seemed to be plenty of servers. Perhaps it was just a hiccup in the early evening rush. Despite that, we had a great time and plan to return in the future.

Chef Alejandro Cruz creates amazing food with fresh local ingredients. Not your typical Latin Cuisine, it's a step up! Really a delicious food and culinary experience. We're coming back!

Overall dining at NOVO was a great experience. My only complaint...and it's not really a complaint...was how often the staff visited our table. It appeared to me that there were 2-3 different servers who were appointed to our table for one reason or another. My issue was that it seemed that about every 10-15 minutes someone was at the table inquiring about our meal, the service, checking in, etc. I felt that there were too many visits, too much attention...too many interruptions. The food was great. The ambiance was great. In the end, I was feeling like I was needing to stop my conversation (often) in order to answer our servers questions. Again, not a complaint...an observation.
