My boyfriend, daughter, and I had a late night craving for Mexican food and I remembered this being open 24/7. They have a drive thru, but we opted to walk in to place our to-go order. They were super quick (less than 5 minutes)! The food was ready before we got our sauces from the self served sauce station. I really like how they had pumps for the sauces (much cleaner than the spoons at other places). There were only 2 types of sauces, the mild green tomatillo and the hot red. We preferred the green over the red sauce, but both were good. We ordered the carnitas burrito, carne asada burrito, and 3 rolled tacos. You really get your money's worth because the burritos were huge! I really loved how they did not come with rice or beans. The meats were really tender and flavorful. Both burritos were really tasty. The rolled tacos were ok, a bit too much cheese. They were extra crispy; however, I would have enjoyed it more had it come with some shredded lettuce or salsa. We'll be back next time we have a late night craving! The restaurant is really clean! They have plenty of room inside and outside for dining.
Honestly, the reason we continuing coming back to this spot is because of that red sauce. That red sauce with the way they make their food is absolutely fire. The nachos supreme here is crack and it's our go-to. Some employees here can be not so friendly but the food makes up for it. Also, I recommend going inside to order because then, you get to put yourself as much salsa as you need at the salsa bar. If you go through the drive through and as for an x-amount of salsas, you'll get two. If you ask for more, you'll get two Lmao
The birria taco is delicious, totally on point in flavor and the crispy tortilla shell is 100% good. The chiles serranos toreados compliments it all well and the tall beers they serve makes for a good adult Happy meal
This Cotixan location used to be good. Ever since they moved from the corner to this new spot, there's been a slight decline. Over the past few months though, there's been a big drop. Quality has dramatically decreased while prices have increased. The cooks here either don't care or don't know how to serve good food. Maybe they are lazy. Today, I was served stale carne asada fries that tasted like they were made yesterday and thrown back into the fryer an hour before I got there. Horrible. I was disappointed my past two visits before today (rolled tacos, crunchy beef taco, crunchy chicken taco, breakfast burrito) and this time, I will not be coming back. Pretty sad as this has been my go-to for a long time. Not anymore. I miss Alejandro's now
By far my favorite breakfast burrito in San Diego. Always delish. I get bacon egg and cheese burrito. Husband gets their carne asada burrito with cheese. Always solid. Quick especially w the drive through. I like their red and green salsas. Yummmm. Wish they were on door dash though.
