Griegos North - Durango

I remembered Griego's from several years ago so of course had to take the opportunity to visit again. I was not disappointed! The food and service were still wonderful!

Griego's is a truly unique and amazing restaurant. They recently celebrated their 50th anniversary, which is quite an achievement! Their sopapillas are the best I've ever had, and the cheese enchiladas are not far behind. The Hatch green chili is fantastic, though it does pack a bit of heat, and the red sauce has a perfect balance of flavor. It’s clear that I’m a fan! However, there is one downside: the rice has too much tomato flavor and tends to be a bit soupy for my taste. I usually opt for double beans, which are excellent.

My mother and I ordered the no cheese green chile beef burrito and the smothered burrito without chile. Both dishes were delicious, and the portion sizes were just right. The service was quick, the tables were very clean, and the staff was attentive. We loved our experience and will definitely return.

The New Mexican-style enchiladas and tacos here are quite good. The menu features a variety of traditional spicy red and green chile options. The spice levels are reminiscent of the flavorful dishes and salsa bar at Frontier Restaurant in Albuquerque, which was always delightfully spicy!
