Southside Pizza - Chattanooga

They make a mean sammich and the calzones are the size of a large pizza folded over.

First time there and we picked up our food but I would definitely go back. The pizza was delicious, the service was good and the atmosphere was super laid back. It struck me as a quintessential pizza place for misfits and radicals with a good sense of humor. Vegetarian options: I don’t think they have fake meat or cheeses but I did a garlic butter sauce with mushrooms, greens, caramelized onions and pineapple and it was yummy (next day I added roasted garlic, roasted beets and fried egg and took it over the top). As far as vegan it might be important to ask for extra sauce/toppings. I wouldn’t say they were super generous with the toppings. Not sure if they could do a garlic/olive oil sauce or if their tomato sauce is vegan.

I tried the pepperoni pizza and a salad, both of which impressed me—the salad becoming a new favorite with fresh ingredients and the pizza offering big, satisfying slices of classic NY style thin crust. The restaurant features a large patio, ideal for outdoor dining. I recommend visiting on a Tuesday to take advantage of their 2 large pizza special for $22, making it a great deal for groups or families.
