Behind the modest front door of a brick building, we discovered a wide array of quality comfort food, prepared and served by friendly staff. There were no long waits, no pretentiousness, and no unnecessary embellishments—just what we needed after a 700 km drive across Newfoundland to catch the overnight ferry to Nova Scotia. While it may not be upscale, the restaurant was clean and comfortable. The best part? The volume of background music was set at just the right level, creating a pleasant atmosphere rather than being overwhelming or distracting. And with that, I’ll use the word "ambiance," just to confirm that this review meets all the criteria.

We had breakfast here with family, and it was a delightful experience. I ordered eggs, toast, sausages, and hash browns, and it was definitely worth the price. The meal was substantial, featuring homemade hash browns and toast made from their own freshly baked bread. Everything was delicious, but the highlight for me was the homemade bread—it was the best I've ever tasted! I could eat here every day just for that bread alone! Additionally, the server was incredibly kind and patient with my child, who has Autism and ADHD, which we really appreciated. A major bonus is that this restaurant is very Autism-friendly. I highly recommend this place!

The breakfast is amazing and absolutely delicious. The staff is great as well. I really don't understand why this place isn't more crowded.

What can I say about this place another one of my childhood staples. Since it's near the school they have lunchtime specials for the kids, they have a seniors discount, their food portions are always huge, they even have a sensory time for people with disabilities don't see that in very many places I tell you, food is always great, service is great, they always do stuff for the community and all in all I hope they always keep the great service and maybe lower some of the prices just a little once they can but if u do go to Port Aux Basques make sure this is one place you have on your bucket list
