The Merrytree By Rathwood - Carlow

Our experience at this restaurant was quite disappointing. The plates and cups were dirty, and the food was not only terrible but also served in tiny portions, especially considering the outrageous prices. We waited an excessive amount of time for our food, which arrived cold and undercooked. The chips were hard, and the "salad" was just a lackluster mix of canned vegetables with a poor dressing thrown on top. It's such a shame, as this used to be one of our favorite places! We were even considering hosting a communion and a christening here soon, but after this experience, we won't be coming back, not even for a coffee.

The restaurant was extremely clean, and the staff were highly skilled. The food was served hot and presented beautifully. The dessert options were outstanding. The only downside was that two small lunch plates, two coffees, and one dessert came to just over 50 euros.

I just returned from a short break in Gorey, and my daughter and I stopped by Rathwood for a cup of tea and some scones. We were served by a nice girl, and after paying, we went to sit down. However, many of the tables were not clean, so I ended up wiping down a table myself since no one was checking or sanitizing them; some were quite filthy. We spent nearly half an hour there and no one came out to check on us, which says a lot about the place. The dining area really needs a thorough cleaning, and there should be someone dedicated to cleaning tables after customers leave. I had small scones, a Capri Sun, and one cup of tea, but I won’t be back again. It’s concerning to sit at dirty tables, especially with the possibility of spreading viruses.

I'm not usually a fan of carvery food, but the lunch at Rathwood was both hot and plentiful. I had a soup as a starter, while my dining companion enjoyed the breaded Brie, which was delicious. For the main course, we both opted for beef along with the typical vegetables, and I have no complaints at all. The staff were friendly and very helpful.

Often visit this litte oasis of peace in Tullow.... Food is divine especially the open chicken sandwiches xxx today was no exception ... yum yum ...staff are fantastic too especially Anne who is the bestest Chef ever and the nicest lady ever ...xxx thank you...Anne and all the wonderful kind friendly staff in the Merry Tree xxx Noreen and Anna Pavlov is a dream too xxxxx LOVE
