Bio Bistro Bacio - Basel

I was in this typical and excellent restaurant a few days ago thanks to a birthday party with about eleven people. Based on a simple description, I expected a good quality restaurant but everything was really beyond all expectations. The food was really fantastic with several typical plates from Sri Lanka/India (I have appreciated a lot, above all, the lamb with curry and the banana flowers salad). They have also plates for Vegans. The owners (Dunia and Viraj) and the staff were always very friendly and professional, always able to give us a good suggestion on the food and/or drinks. A very good variety of red/white/rosé wines and other drinks, alcoholic and nonalcoholic. I have chosen an excellent Argentinian Malbech. There is on the terrace a very nice view on the Rhine river and some Basle corners. At the end of the beautiful meal, I have ordered a very good tea which was much better than other ones I have tasted. Congratulations on the everything to Dunia and Viraj for their restaurant that I highly recommend to everyone is around Basle or from Basle...

It's like entering a different culture. I don't recommend it for business people. If you have time and want to experience a different atmosphere/smell and on a sunny day, you can enjoy the view on the river sitting on the balcony.

Terrible attitude and over expensive for what it is. i asked for warm water because i didn’t feel well and got told i can make it at home and they need to charge me 3 chf for the hot water “to pay rent”. asked for just a cup of cold water instead and the server let out the most dramatic sigh ever.

We went there for a drink as we thought the Terrasse looks nice from the Street. But the Terrasse once you are inside the Restaurant is lacking style. Everything seems outdated and designed without any love. My wife order a Mineral Water, which came in a glass without a bottle. It costed 4CHF for a 2.5 dl!!!! My wife said it tasted like Tapwater. When I walked in a saw a lovely old Italian Espresso Machine, so i ordered a Espresso. The Espresso was the worst one I ever had. The Coffee was tasteless, watery and the Grinding of the Coffeebeans was the wrong one for Espresso as there still where bits of Coffeebeans in my cup when I was finished. Also the price of CHF 4.70 is overpriced. We are sure we won’t return

They have a very lovely terrace. that`s definitely true and that is suitable for a romantic date. but sadly this place would have a lot more potential that is not being used. the menu was rather small which is not a problem but the price is too high for what you receive (46 CHF for a platter and over 20 CHF for a small starter-platter), when ordering two smaller ones would end up being more and cheaper! also the mango lassi (small glass for over 5 CHF) was really quite average. i was very excited to try this place and was sadly quite disappointed and will not return.
