Tali - Alice Springs

Let's take this review with this preface that we have heard from many people that tali is a good restaurant. with many we mean, well meant. but in alice springs they take what they can get when it comes to culinary experiences, so we tried to continue investigating. Where should I start? the night was ripe, the classic romantic and the ambiente appropriate. it was just your ordinary Valentine's Day. we have booked in advance that we are not blessed with a set menu in the night. by not introducing ourselves, we think. Had dinner last night and that was our third visit in the last twelve months. absolutely delicious! I had touched fry tofu, sesame beans and hubby had lamming frame. it was the best lamb frame he ever had. we had tali plate and the mango panacotta oh so good! great staff, great place.

Good little spot at the casino and hotel in Alice Springs, the food was good, service steady for such a busy night pre marathon. Good size plates and again pretty good no complaints..

Four chefs, seven staff, 15 patrons. Main served without cutlery 30mins after main, no offer of a second drink/desert/coffee or anything. Staff completely pre-occupied with prep for breakfast at 9pm. Soft shell crab tasted as though it hadn't been cleaned or prepped properly. Al dente pasta w nice beurre blanc. Would have loved to try the desert menu but not a soul to be seen for over 20mins. Disgusted and will never return.

Nice atmosphere, good food, poor service. The restaurant has a subdued loungy atmosphere combined with a viewable kitchen, which we really liked. We were served the wrong entree which is no great offence, especially when we heard that it was the first night of a new menu. However, when we made a simple request for some boiled rice with our meal, we were flat out told NO . Apparently the chefs were too busy to accommodate us. We simply couldn 't believe it. I 've never of customers being refused in this way in a supposedly fine dining restaurant. It didn 't ruin our night but it left a bad taste in our mouths.
