We will always have a place in our heart for ixtapa and the restaurant. Very beautiful but made personal with beautiful pictures and a moulin rouge background… I’m convinced the owner is French and he knows his stuff, more importantly: he knows his food!!!! So hard to find a place like this with the quality of food in ixtapa. We LOVE the “sol” as we call it.
I think I already reviewed this placed, but there are several restaurants with the same name so I'm being sure that this one gets the proper recognition it deserves. If you're hankering for excellent eggs Benedict, and other more westernised breakfast options,be sure to visit here, you won't regret it at all; every time I'm in Ixtapa I go here...often more than once, it's my go to for a decent breakfast. It's located on the strip heading toward the marina, across from Park Royal Hotel, and has a lovely setting with outdoor seating. Go!
Have been going to this restaurant for years and years, seen all the changes over times. One visit this year was horrible, swore I wouldn't go back. Party of 8, took 20 minutes for the waiter to take the drink order. When taking our dinner order the waiter actually rolled his eyes at us...first couple ordering was going to split a salad as their starter that's when he rolled his eyes, then they were going to order a entree each. At that time a few of us wanted to walk out but our friends talked us into staying, big mistake. The waiter turned us over to another waiter who was wonderful, we loved him, the food was horrible, almost inedible, 2 chicken parms, 3 chicken in a tangine and pulpo which was the only halfway decent thing served. Ended up going back one more time because some friends all wanted to go, thought I'd give them another chance. Food was fine, ordered things that couldn't be ruined easily. The problem was when we got our bills, I was overcharged on an item, one person had 1,000 pesos added to their bill, anothers bill was 700 pesos and they tried charging her 1,500, another person was overcharged, in the end 5 out of 6 people had substantial over charges on their bills. Don't know what's going on with the place but when there starts to be those kind of errors, I refuse to go back.
While this restaurant is listed as Zihuatanejo, it is actually on the Ixtapa Boulevard just across the street from Bogart's Restaurant. The new owner, Edmond Benloulou, is a professional restauranteur and chef, and he brings you a tray of the freshest fish, seafood and steaks of the day for you to choose what suits your palate. It is always a hard choice, but you must try the best Gazpacho you have ever had, or the Shrimp in garlic butter (a couple of my favorites). Crème Brulee is the orgasmic crescendo to a perfect meal and experience. Reservations call 755 553 0420. You will thank me.
Eaten here about ten times. Food is always excellent but not complicated. If you want good food at a very reasonable price try this charming place.
