The pieces of fish were also huge - if you are not a big eater, or are on a budget, one piece would probably serve two people. The only bad thing was the banana fritter - the banana must have been off as it was black and tasted (and smelt) terrible. The staff are also really friendly, and there are chairs where you can sit while you wait for them to prepare your food.
Love the staff, the food and the prices. Have been visiting this place for 5 years and they're consistently good.
I had not seen this option previously and frankly am not interested in upgrade review but should say that the family is amazing. My experience is that they know me even though I am not in there every week. Excellent packages are available and all is freshly cooked. Never any problem and for regulars they seem to give special attention. I hope this is a good thing. I have been there lots of times and will continue to do so.
This would have to be the freshest, best cooked fish I have ever had in Melbourne. The owner makes daily visits to the fish market to ensure he offers the best quality fish to his customers. I had the John Dory with salad & chips. It was sensational! I will definitely be returning soon...
What a pleasure to eat the takeaway fish and chips from Under the Sea. I had a butterflied King George Whiting lightly battered which was fresh as a daisy and beautifully cooked. My husband's flake was similar. Both were generous portions and wrapped in enough paper to keep them piping hot until we finished our Saturday morning messages and got them home. years ago this was my go-to place when I needed fish and chips but it gradually got grungier. What a transformation. Every surface in the shop is sparkling, the very fresh fish is displayed well. Highly recommended.
