Pizza slightly larger than normal. I didn't like the sausage taste on my friend's pizza, but my with prosciutto was ok.Nice rustic atmosphere with more than one room and divided into two levels. not overcrowded, not loud and good service.
Puntino is your classic Trattoria neighborhood. A few blocks away Sydney's original little Italy of Stanley Street, it is a welcome addition to the wrinkle with the best wood-fired pizzas of the heap (Bar Reggio, another fav, uses a conveyor for its excellent collection). There are a number of handmade pastas available, our favorites are the two Cavatelli options a kind of compact mussel pasta. My personal visit is the 'Cavatelli alla boscaiola di monte pollino' a rich dish with mushrooms, pancetta, sausage and a red sauce with a line of cream divine. The pizzas are top notch and you can't go wrong. We are part of the 'Nona Maria' that throws a bit of ricotta on a salami/moushroom pizza, but whatever you are sure to get a cake when you visit. Aperitivos and Chiantis are cheap, the service is attentive and Big Tony is never far away. Large groups can be accommodated but should book ahead as the room is narrow, couples can walk in most nights and find a place.
It is worth looking for and supporting outside. This cozy Trattoria with authentic food and wine and very friendly staff is located in a suburb. We only had the pizza and the wine, but the dishes around us also looked excellent.
Had a great dinner. Divided the homemade beef balls, followed by the nets of Sirloin Steak and Pasta. Proper drink and 2 bottles of wine washed. Just both of us. Very recommended for a quiet evening. Ask for an outside table. You won't regret it. It will be back next Tuesday.
