Though over priced, the food wasn't horrible but the food did not overwhelm me to return. Firstly the portions are small, more so a large side dish portion. Came across a great deal on Groupon to try this place. Very happy it was according to a voucher as it wasn't very authentic nor extraordinary. The staff weren't very enthusiastic and seemed to priotise gossiping with each other. We ordered an acai bowl - tasty though average A dragon bowl (pittaya) - tasty The portions were certainly small. For it to be priced an additional $2 than regular cafes, I wouldn't recommend it as there isn't anything else the farmhouse can offer. For beverages, I had a green beverage which the guy at the counter couldn't find for some reason. It tasted horrible - not even the slightest sweetness of a fruits juice, just plain leafy greens. The mango one was nice. I had the beef salad - was tasty but once again, the downsizing in portions is incredibly ridiculous.

Follow up review: despite a disappointing experience in the restaurant as noted below, Mike (owner) had sent us a follow up message to apologise and offered for damage control. To which, we really appreciate. My expectation for good restaurant would entails good food, lovely atmosphere, and thoughtful service. This Farmhouse is a very small restaurant, with only one long table available for everyone to share. Not much privacy. Jazz and candle helped with the atmosphere. At booking, I was told there will be candle prepared for birthday man. Not only they completely forgot, but when I mentioned to them in the end, no signs of genuine sorry was seen, it was a "oh I am sorry, it is $144 please". Terrible service. Entry was really lovely, main course was large, tasted ok, lots of fish bone, small but still quite unpleasant, and dessert was creative, can't say it was good. Overall, will never come back here for another celebration or anything.
Farmhouse is a tiny restaurant on Bayswater Road in Kings Cross which resembles an urban barnhouse. The restaurant features a long communal table, slanted timber ceilings and bright exposed lights, and offers a simple four-course menu for two sittings at 6.30pm and 8.30pm. Booking is necessary, so I believe the owners would search for my contact after this review ???????? Food wasn't that bad, but it wasn't as polished as some fussy diners (like me) would like. The four-course dinner begins with a smorgasbord of entrees including Juju's baguette (pretty hard!), chickpea falafel and pickles. The next course was an interesting but unimpressionable dish of Blue swimmer crab, apple, corn and native lime. The main course comes next when the servers littered a series of dishes including the slowest roast beef & shitake, farmhouse mash, charred cucumbers and brussel sprouts, in front of me. The slow roast beef was soft, tender and delicious whereas the brussel sprouts and coleslaw were flavourful and my highlight of the evening. By the time when the desserts - peanut butter jelly and grapefruit cake - were served - most diners were full. I found the desserts to be intriguing but not palatable. Farmhouse is an intimate dining concept and service was friendly and impressive. I would probably remember the personable figures in the restaurant for many, many years. However, they would probably got to fix and work on a selection of dishes instead of a constantly revolving menu.
