I had a Mexican chicken thing that was delicious, and also some lovely coffee. I love places that continue to serve coffee late at night rather than trying to make you drink cocktails. The second time I went for brunch on a Sunday morning. I had a delicious chicken salad and my partner had a beautiful pasta with a cream and cognac sauce. I can't remember all of the ingredients in our meals because unfortunately there's no online menu and I ate here a couple of months ago. The interior is gorgeous - stained glass windows, lovely light fittings and cool wallpaper. This place is open til late so it's perfect if you're in that in-betweeny time when a lot of restaurants close, such as between lunch and dinner or after 9 pm, when a lot of kitchens stop serving food.
Yet another quick breakfast on my Melbourne trip but this one was the best during this visit. Fries eggs with a tomatillo pickle and chilli relish washed down with excellent coffee.
I can't believe I've walked past this place so many times and never noticed. A last minute choice as my colleague and I were pushed for time before a presentation. We jumped into what seemed to be an interesting cafe. It was in fact an eclectic, funky restaurant that holds real atmosphere and so much more. The staff were friendly, polite and quick on taking our orders. As we were in a hurry, we ordered a selection of tapas - sour dough bread, pork, chicken and beef. All good sizes and very, very tasty. My iced chocolate was sweet, rich and delicious. Coffee for my colleague, hot and strong.I'd call the menu Spanish but it feels more rustic than that - a little bit of the Mediterranean plus northern Africa. The serves are typical tapas size, but perhaps even a little more on the generous side. I'd like to be able to tell you what it cost, but my colleague picked up the tab. Should've paid more attention when ordering. The tables and chairs are a little bit uncomfortable - just timber and on the wooden floor it's a little cold and noisy. But there are other parts of the restaurant where you can sit on higher tables and chairs. Didn't get to explore further out the back where i'm sure there must be booths.Although we didn't order wine, I did peruse the list and it was comprehensive and reasonably priced.I will most definitely return as I enjoy a good tapas dinner - but next time will explore other items on the menu - I only got as far as the tapas this time.Keep up the great work everyone.
The service was excellent and the food was fantastic!
