Carwardine`s - Wiltshire

This was our first and last visit to this cafe. The enticing pictures of food outside the cafe lured us in, but the food we were served did not resemble the pictures at all. I ordered a gammon and cheese toasted sandwich, but there was no butter on the toast and the cheese had no flavor. There was only a small amount of wafer-thin ham inside, and the chips were undercooked. The tea was also terrible. Save your money and go elsewhere.

I became concerned when hot oil sprayed out as I cut into a chip at this restaurant. We ordered a ham and cheddar cheese toastie with chips and salad, but it was disappointing. The toastie lacked cheddar cheese and instead had bland mozzarella-like strings. The wholemeal toast was dry and the salad was sparse. This unsatisfactory meal cost £8.50. When I asked for an extra shot in my coffee, it was lukewarm and tasted more like milky coffee-colored drink than real coffee. Overall, I would recommend avoiding this place.

We decided to try this restaurant shortly after Christmas on the 23rd as everywhere else was fully booked. Both my partner and I ordered toasties that were served with chips and a salad. Unfortunately, we were extremely disappointed with our meals. We both agreed that it was probably the worst food we had ever experienced at a dining establishment. The toasties were barely edible, the chips were not cooked properly, and the "salad" consisted of just a small portion of iceberg lettuce that had been chopped into tiny pieces. Honestly, it felt like an insult to our intelligence. Needless to say, we will not be returning to this restaurant. The overall experience felt very amateurish. Save yourself the trouble and dine elsewhere.

What a great little place. We managed to get a table for six on our first lunchtime in Salisbury as the place was very busy. We may have outstayed our welcome somewhat as we were the last to leave as they closed at 4pm. Anyway we all had sandwiches and drinks which were all superb. The only draught beer they have is Heineken which was fine. They have several other beers in 500ml bottles. The six lunches we had were all excellent and being in a warm cosy atmosphere was just what we all needed. Staff were excellent and the quality of food and service was perfect.

We went for breakfast on Friday and although there was a good atmosphere and the staff were pleasant, Carwardine's was not very clean. Our teapot looked like it hadn't been washed for ages, inside and out and the toilets stank of acrid urine. The toilet pan was also very stained. We have been there several times in the past, but not sure I would be in a hurry to return. Also not very pleased to see staff vaping outside and then coming back to serve customers.
