Service very prompt and attentive. Decor way above the ordinary Mexican restaurant but not over the top. Prices reasonable and portions ample. Beto owns the next door Mexican bakery which is also totally authentic and tasty as well. The story of Las Tias is that whenever people went looking for Beto he was always eating at Las Tias , his aunts. He took their wonderful home cooking and translated it into a restaurant for everyone to enjoy. At first I thought he simply took their recipes for the menu at the restaurant but come to find out, the Tias are actually the cooks in the kitchen! Ask to meet them and they will come out for introductions. Very nice ladies who have been cooking this way a long time and know very well how to turn out simple and very delicious dishes. At the end of your meal, you can sample desserts from Beto 's next door bakery or better yet go next door and browse through the huge selection of authentic Mexican pastries. There is also a large selection of items one would find in a typical corner Mexican store back there. Lots of specialty items and spices in bulk. All in all a very pleasant experience.
We started off with homemade chips and fresh salsa that were both fresh and well seasoned. Our entrees consisted of a soft corn shredded beef taco, bean tostada, and a Chile Verde plate. The soft corn shells were magnificent, the beans had a unique but still familiar flavor, and the Chile Verde was likewise unique, yet still familiar. The Verde was arguably the best I have ever tasted. The service was attentive and friendly. The menu here is 1 page, yet not limited at all. This is on my list of the top two must eat Mexican food restaurants in town without question.
Their breakfast is delicious!! You really can't go wrong but the huevos rancheros with ranchero sauce is absolutely divine!!
