Sunrise Caribbean Restaurant - Whitby

Popped in here to pickup lunch. Asked the staff what they would recommend that was gluten-free and they suggested the jerk chicken. It was really good. Love the blend of flavours and it was the perfect amount of heat. Not too much, not too little. Rice was fluffy and fresh too.Excellent value for money and the staff are very knowledgeable.

OK if you like Caribbean food this is the place to go. Everyone in the restaurant was completely silent as they were devoted to the meals in front of them. I have been several times and each time walk out marvelling at how incredibly good this food is. I would drive miles and I do, to eat here!!!!!

Its in the strip Plaza next to Walmart (north side)(directly across from Wendy's. I've driven by many times and never noticed. You walk in and toward the back. Seating area is in front. Up on the board are your meal options and prices. You can see the jerk chicken, buffalo and fried chicken and can hand pick the pieces. I had a meal of jerk chicken (3pcs) with an abundance of rice with beans and oxtail gravy and a small coleslaw. I was generously offered a sample as I was totally weirded out by the concept of gravy on rice. It's actually good. You pay at the counter and I ate in the open concept area and with the TV I was able to catch up on the latest news and weather. The meal total, tax in was under $10, including a tip. It was fun to people watch... families, a work out guy just wanting chicken, older, and many nationalities. It seems like a family run business full of flavour, pride and passion for authentic cuisine. The jerk chicken was not spicy, and the meal was so filling. A nice change from other cuisines. The leftover rice would be good for a while other meal. Next time I will ask more questions and maybe try something different.

Ordered oxtail,Stew and jerk chicken. The oxtail went up in price it's now $16.95 WOW! The portions are good and the meat is cooked soft and well seasoned. Jerk chicken and Stew chicken is average, not bad. The coleslaw is great!

If you crave jerk chicken, this is the place to go!! Consistently good food, and friendly service. You get a large amount of food for a reasonable price. Not fancy, you can dine in or take out. There is a lot on the menu, but the jerk chicken, rice and peas is always perfect, I never feel the need to try anything else!!
