The other night my husband and I had the special at the Eco Cafe which was southern fried oysters over ancient grain rice and the dish was excellent. We were very happy with the serve of our drinks and the quality of the food. Thank you so much to the all the Eco Cafe Staff and Chef Nathan and Isaac. In all honesty we have seen a positive influence to the Eco Café food ever since Nathan and Isaac have been employed.
Pleasantly surprised!. There was 5 of us and all were very happy with our food. I had the cubano and it was a good representation of what I'd get in Cuba! Food was hot, plentiful and tasty. Server was great and all staff were helping clear plates within the customary time.
Local Diners. We are regular visitors to the Eco Café and our visits over the years have proven to be nothing less than entirely enjoyable. Be it an impromptu evening meal or a planned evening for their renowned monthly theme dinner we have always come away satisfied. The food is always of consistent high quality, the atmosphere relaxed and friendly and the service reliable and attentive. We always expect a top class meal at Eco and are never disappointed.Faye Kozack Doug Martinson.
What a wonderful spot. January 23 2015My wife and I were on our way to visit my parents in Blufton. It was late so we decided to stop in at The Village of Pigeon Lake to look for a place to have a bite to eat. It was hard to see but we found this little place called the Eco Cafe. When we entered we were instantly greeted by one of the chefs in the kitchen. He was very kind and let us know that someone would be with us soon to seat us. I noticed right away that the restaurant was very busy. After a short wait a very professional and kind waiter by the name of Derek approached us and showed us to our table. He made sure to let us know that there might be a little bit of a wait for drinks and food due to the busyness of the restaurant. Shortly after Derek took our drink and dinner order (about 6 min). Our drinks were then served quit promptly and i was presently surprised and how efficient our service was thus far. I had the Mexican pork chop and my wife had the special. The Mexican pork chop was one of the best pork chops i have ever had it was perfectly cooked and it came with this pecan butter (don't get me started). My wife's special was southern fried oysters over ancient grain pilaf lets just say what she didn't eat I ate the rest. I was pleasantly surprised at the speed in which my drinks were served and the quality of the food. Thank You so much to the Eco Cafe Staff I will definitely be back P.S Nice Red Jacket Chef
We love the ambiance and the live music at the Eco Cafe. Really, we do. It is one of our favourite places. But, if you are gluten free it is relatively slim pickings. So far I have tried their GF pork chop-meh, the Bahama Mama ribs-ribs themselves weren't that great but the garlic mashed potatoes and veggies were delish. Tonight it was time to give the Thai Curry a try. Honestly, don't waste your money on this dish. There was nothing even remotely Thai about it. It tasted like one of those Lean Cusine or Weight Watcher's microwave dinners. There were little to no veggies, no coconut milk from what I could discern, or curry for that matter. It was served with a big serving of plain white rice, and gluten free white bread toast points. Seriously? For that kind of money you would be far better off to stop at Safeway and buy a bottle of Sharwood's Thai Red Curry sauce, a couple organic bell peppers, some green beans, chicken or tofu, healthy brown rice, and cook it yourself. It was bland, boring, and definitely not worth the drive or the money. And, to top it all off, they were out of any gluten free dessert options, which would have been my meal's saving grace. : On a good note, our server was fantastic, she was extremely friendly, welcoming, and helpful. My daughter enjoyed her sandwich, and the French fries were fantastic. The organic Natura Cab-Sauvignon from Chile was lovely, and the Peanut Butter Cheesecake was quite good. We will definitely return, but I will not be wasting our money on the Thai Curry again.
