Javan - West Los Angeles

I had a fantastic time at Javan. I missed it while it was closed for a while but was impressed with the current management's friendliness and attentiveness. The food was delicious and I will definitely be returning whenever I can. It's a perfect spot for a family get-together or to celebrate a special occasion.

The food was excellent. It was my first time dining here in 30 years and I was pleasantly surprised. They used to have a great muhamara dish, but unfortunately it's no longer on the menu. The kabobs were moist, tender, and delicately marinated, making them delicious.

We had a great time at this restaurant. The food was delicious, but the noise level was a bit high. The wait staff was friendly, but seemed to be absent at times. We had to ask for to-go boxes and the check more than once.

I went here with my girlfriend on a date. What makes review for Javan difficult was the hit and miss nature of both food and service. Kabob, vegetable, and tomato stews were very good. But the yogurt dip and cheese appetizers were not. The cheese was rather tasteless and yogurt tasted stale. The service was the low point. One of our appetizers was never delivered to the table (they took it off the bill), no one really checked on us during our dinner to make sure things were ok (they were not), and staple items such as bread was missing until we got wait staff's attention and specifically ask about 10 min after the appetizers were delivered. The restaurant was not busy at all with only 5-6 tables with clients. I think this might be a good place for regulars (the person who was sitting behind us was getting exceptional service) but not for those on the exploration path.

The staff was very polite and accommodating and the ambiance was quiet and relaxing. It was our first time trying Persian food at a restaurant and we really enjoyed it! The Ash Joe was very good, and also the Cornish hen chicken kebab. The somewhat exotic flavors were both delicious and refreshing. I will definitely eat there again, and highly recommend it to anyone looking to give Persian cuisine a try.
