Standard Dave - Warrnambool

Well what's to say? Walked in to order a take out no menu handy on wall or counter, one size pizzas, was told only do gourmet pizza and from what I got was no gourmet, very little topping, decor wall bench 6 chairs and an island table with about 10 chairs, no drinks for take out but a bar next door. Name: Standard Dave when really could of just been called Dave's Disaster. Overall what a disappointment or should I say a disaster.

An experience with many levels of choice....from the upcycled booths in the cool bar with music played loud, the performance basement, the dining room, the communal table, benches on the street and the beer garden at the rear. Francis makes excellent thin crust pizzas; my favourite being the fungi with rocket, Parmesan and garlic. There are many cocktails to choose from, and also a bevy of amber beverages.I like this place.

This was an impulse visit. 2 usual takeaway places were closed. Arrived on a sunday evening and a solo guitarist who reminded me of Jeff Buckley was singing a Joni Mitchell classic. So whilst the order cooked I listened to other covers. Friendly staff. Easy st parking out front. But to rap this up...the pizza was excellent. The base exactly like I love it. Thin. Char crust. Real ingredients. Made in a few minutes. Highly recommend this pizza.

Thei modern and quirky, realitively new PIZZA place serves great pizza (if you can get served...)TURN the MUSIC DOWN ... if your staff want loud music they can do that at home but when WE eat out we like to have a conversation....... It drove many I was with away and me outside

I had a takeaway pizza from Standard Dave on my last night in Warrnambool and regret very much that I didn't visit on my first night. Had I done so, I certainly would have visited more often, this was very simply one of the best pizzas that I have ever had.I make a pretty mean pizza myself, but I now have a new, much higher standard to strive for - this was probably the very best crust that I have ever enjoyed.I look forward to a return visit to town, just for the pizza.
