Bottega Toscana Warrnambool

I've been there with my friends on the way to the Great Ocean Road and I do recommend the restaurant. The owners are very friendly and welcoming. Delicious Italian food and coffee! The environment is lovely!

I can't agree with some of the recent reviews on Bottega Toscana, they offer some of the best pizza and pasta I've had in years.I enjoyed their excellent bolognese as well as a small margarita last week and both were nothing short of excellent. If you want pizza drowned in a sea of toppings, there are other options in town however, if you want a real Italian pizza at a very modest price, you really can't go past this place. The team are also very friendly and take an interest in their customers. I can't wait to go back next time I'm in town!

I read their website a few timesAll the claims of made fresh in store produce(well the gnocchi is bought from overseas, how fresh can that be?) Anyway, as a person that used to live in Italy and has been involved with 2 Pizza Restaurants in the passed, and a love of cooking at home, lets say i had expectations i was going to be treated to some proper Italian hospitality and a fest for the senses.(after all, that what they constantly promote themselves as)The new shop looks wonderful, but that is where it levelled out for us.I will always order the Gnocchi when i try a new Italian place for the first timeFor me, it is always a make or break dish, simple, yet easy to get wrong.When i asked about the "Fresh Gnocchi", i was told it is bought in from overseas.So that idea ended right there.Ok, so we order a pizza.I more than understand a proper Italian Pizza is all about quality ingredients and the "less is more" policyIt was indeed that.To be honest, i didn't think much of the Pizza Dough base, it was so thin, that was almost a chip and the moisture in our pizza topping made parts of it soggy.Never the less, the ingredients were nice and fresh.But, i kind of expected more to be truthful.I looked at another customers Pizza and Pasta and they looked goodService was ok, nothing overly special and then the two seemed to kind of argue/discuss about work issues as our meal was made....I guess my point is, if you are going to have a website and take away menu where you pump yourself up like you do, then you only have yourselves to blame if you don't deliver the promise.So you will be judged accordingly by patrons.I'd say 6.5/10 on this visit.I'll also say that 2 hours after our meal i have the most wonderful flavours still in my mouth. Certainly no post meal regrets like some places.

I visited the restaurant with my family of four for a sit down meal, we ordered 4 pizzas, after a long wait, 2 pizzas came with a wave of his hand and said the other 2 would arrive soon, the 2 pizzas were finished and then the other 2 arrived.The pizzas were very average, with hardly any toppings and the service was without any warmth, we felt we were an inconvenience to their day.

Don't let the outside of the restaurant make you miss this gem! To be honest we, my partner and I, discover this restaurant by "mistake", the restaurant we go normally is next door to this one, but it was closed, as pretty much everything in the street in the afternoon, between 3pm to 6pm. Sad but still starving, we start to look around for something else, and we happen to check the menu from next door. the outside don't sound so attractive to us, not that it look bad, more that it look like to be where you will go to **** a quick bit more than a proper restaurant, and we were more looking for a "traditional" kind. Anyway, after having a look at the quit simple but nice menu, we decide to give it a go, and oh my, I am happy we did. Everything is freshly homemade by, I suppose, an Italian family, and it taste amazing!!! Best pizza I had in Australia so fare (4 years, so I had to taste quit a lot ;p), everything is so fresh and tasty, they also without any problem, accommodate me by making a vegan version of their pizza, we already been there twice since we discovered it and plan on going there again anytime we have to be in Warrnambool for the day!!!
