I chose a dish from the menu which included a pork chop, and the staff kindly offered to heat it up for me. My friends also ordered their meals from the train. We all enjoyed the food and the atmosphere was quiet at the tables, perfect for having conversations. I would definitely come back here again.
If you enjoy Japanese cuisine, this restaurant may not meet your expectations. The sushi was bland and lacked variety, with most pieces tasting the same and not being rolled tightly. The Wasabi and ginger were served in plastic packaging, and the pork dishes were unusual and not well-prepared. The prices were higher than expected for the quality of food. Overall, I would not recommend this restaurant for a satisfying Japanese dining experience.
During the school holidays, this restaurant seemed to be busier than usual, possibly due to a change in ownership. Unfortunately, the food selection on the menu was limited and some orders were either missed or served late. The rice dishes were cold, the soy sauce was watered down, and the salad was unimpressive. The quality of the sashimi also seemed to have declined. I hope that these issues are only temporary, as the restaurant used to be great.
The sushi is beautiful and easy, it is really good if you feel like a snack or something on the jump to eat. There are other fast food shops available, but that I enjoyed most was Yatai.
I 've been more than five times now. The food is ok, nothing fantastic but is pretty competent. The menu offers some really good value dishes. My suggestion is to order off the menu as much as you can. The 'sushi train ' experience is a worry... plates appear to be left up for much longer than I suspect is safe, including raw fish with warm other components. The value (of the 'sushi train ' dishes) is mostly poor. It 's good fun to sit at the bar and kids love the choice. Depending on when you go, I 've seen the 'rail ' fully stocked or almost empty. I think the tip is to go more than an hour (and I mean probably two hours) before closing time. The service is ok, I see new staff all of the time so wonder how they are treated. My verdict would be that if you are fairly robust with respect to food (that might have been sitting around for a while) and if you are up for some sushi, definitely give it a go. It 's not terrific but you will have a good time and the food is ok. My dish recommendation off the menu is the eel.
