Sakura Japanese - Virginia Beach

Stopped in for dinner at Sakura and was quickly seated at a table near the window with a great view. The restaurant was welcoming, well decorated and had a great ambiance. The server welcomed me with a smile and a water and my appetizer came out in no time at all! I ordered a cucumber salad edamame both were delicious. For my main course I opted for two rolls volcano and shrimp tempura. They were prepared perfectly. I highly suggest stopping in for sushi they have a wide variety of rolls and sashimi. I love coming here when I don't have a lot of time; the service is always quick and the food is always top tier.

Rating: Last night's dinner at Sakura Japanese Restaurant was nothing short of a delightful culinary journey. From the moment we walked in, the authentic Japanese ambiance set the stage for an extraordinary dining experience. The sushi selection was the star of the show. Each piece was a work of art, both visually and in taste. The fish was fresh, the rice perfectly seasoned, and the presentation exquisite. The chef's expertise in balancing flavors and textures was evident in every bite. What impressed me equally was the variety and quality of the other dishes. From savory ramen with rich, flavorful broth to perfectly grilled teriyaki, every dish was a testament to the chef's skill and attention to detail. The service at Sakura was impeccable. The staff was attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable, making excellent recommendations and ensuring our meal was enjoyable from start to finish.

The chef's sushi selection platter was impressive. The rice in the sushi was consistently sized and not overwhelming, topped with a well-chosen variety of fresh fish that was sliced to the perfect thickness—not too thin, over a modestly-sized roll of rice. The sushi rolls were also noteworthy. The shrimp tempura was fantastic, featuring six medium-sized shrimp, assorted vegetable slices, and a delicious dipping sauce. As for the miso soup, it was a classic rendition, generously filled with nori, kombu, and tofu. The side salad complemented the meal nicely. The lunch special was hearty and just as delightful as the other dishes on the menu. The service was quick and the staff attentive. I wasn’t particularly fond of the soy sauce offered for the sushi, so I brought my own Yamaroku soy sauce, which added a delicious flavor to the sushi. Lastly, the dining area was clean and well-maintained. As someone who indulges in sushi like a whale shark feeding on plankton, I’ll definitely be returning!

This is my second visit in just two weeks, and it has quickly become our new favorite spot. The service was excellent, and the sushi rolls were delicious. The atmosphere is inviting, and despite the restaurant being busy, it never felt overcrowded during either of my visits. This place is definitely a must-try!

Food was great as per usual! Always get the jalapeño yellowtail appetizer along with their kitchen food. Can't go wrong with this place
