We had found here in a passage by chance, then found there a toast for our kid, and also Cafe Melange for us,during the day time. Ambiance is very nice, warm and people are friendly. Place is very nice. We went there twice in adjacent...days. The other time at night we had a couple bacardi orange. Lovely. Must visit when Vienna! Next time for sure.
My wife and I spent 5 days over Christmas in Vienna and whilst out walking on Christmas day found this lovely cafe/bar. What a pleasant place with a lovely atmosphere. A wide range of coffees are served plus beers and alcoholic drinks. And hot punch...during the winter which my wife appreciated. We live in the Czech republic which for some strange reason has banned smoking just about everywhere but here I was able to enjoy a cigarette with my beer. Delightful. And a very honest place, I stupidly left my phone in the Gents which was kept behind the bar until I returned for it. A big thank you. We will definitely be back.
We ordered tomato soup, cheese, rye bread and chives, twice, with two coffees. All together this came to around fifteen euros which is better value than surrounding cafes. The venue is small inside however, and given Austrian indoor smoking habits not a place for non...smokers who may prefer to dine in the tables outdoor.
As we were walking down the amazing and amazingly long shopping street Mariahilfer straße on the way to THE SHAMROCK IRISH PUB DOGSTAR BREWERY lively pub and brillant craft beer's and BRANDAUERS BRAUHAUS GERNGROSS superb modern beerhall we decided to...pop into this courtyard café. The courtyard is a hidden gem,it look's old and the café is just superb, nice interior ,light and airy with fabulous decor and furnishing's and topped off with it's outside seating. We ordered a latte coffee each and our coffee's arrived after a short wait steaming hot. The coffee was fantastic, one of the joy's of going to Vienna is the standard of coffee,we had been to a Starbucks earlier in the day and although the coffee was nice there, it really was not on a par with the coffee in this superb café. The staff here were really nice and all in all we had a very pleasant time here before hitting the pub's we planned to visit. Very easy to locate on the famous and very long shopping street MARIAHILFER STRAßE a street teeming with shop's of every type and some interesting pub's,bar's and restaurant's. Opening hour's are; Monday to Saturday,9am till 10pm. Sunday,11am till 9pm. A great café and well worth checking out.
