Ruth & Dean - Victoria

Looking for a veggie friendly restaurant on Canada Day, we came across Ruth & Dean. We had delicious salads and an amazing chocolate beet cake. Really tasty food and friendly service, and the simple devor is great, especially the brown paper menu hoard on the wall. We highly recommend it

I stopped by on a whim, there was something about the decor and simplicity that made me think it would be a good place. I got the polenta salad which was hands down one of the best salads I've had in the city. The flavours were exceptional-- everything worked together in harmony creating a nice, summer dish.I split a piece of cake with a colleague and we've been raving all afternoon, flavours are subtle, natural and it's clear the ingredients are high quality.This place is a gem.

4 of us had lunch here and were thoroughly impressed with the friendly service and delicious soup, topped by the absolutely outstanding mushroom soup accompanying the deliciuos veggie sandwich. The owners clearly take pride in their place, and it shows!

I love Ruth & Dean's minimalist decorating style. Intended or not, that was my first clue the food would be good. Our breakfast sandwich was exceptional. With every bite, you could taste and feel the marriage of each ingredient and that told me much more! We took home, cornbread, lavender cookie and maple pie w/ginger cream (I believe?). Also, all very well received.Thank you.

My girlfriend and I live in the apartments above Ruth & Dean. I get an americano there on the way to work almost every morning. Their baked goods are amazing, especially their cinnamon buns. I would also recommend their quiche. It's worth taking a trip to Victoria just to taste this quiche. The team working there are friendly, helpful, and directly invested in the outcome of their business, making this, in the end, a worthy and genuine luncheonette that you should definitely visit.
