Taking the other half in the house, my sides were not individually packed which was ok with the okra but the slaw shifted and covered the other food making them soggy and cold. Good slaw. Need better packaging.
The food was good, but they seem reluctant to provide sides and portions are very small. We have been to this restaurant three times and each time there was no sweet tea available. We have mentioned this issue to them, but it has not been addressed. Even when we ask for it a second time, it seems like they do not prioritize it. Overall, we receive better customer service and food in Northport, even though it is further away from us as we live on Highway 82, close to Brent.
This visit occurred at 11:30 a.m. on November 28, and was a pickup after placing the order online. The website worked well and the ordering process was fast and easy. The batter fried fish appeared to have been cooked in very old oil: 1)There was a heavy dusting of black flecks on the crust of both pieces of fish, and the crust was soggy, discolored, and had very little crunch. 2)The taste was Poor, with a burnt, smoky hint to it. The fries and coleslaw were Very Good to Excellent. A picture of the plate is included with this review. Iced tea and a cheesecake wedge with strawberry topping were also ordered. The quality of these was Very Good. An order expediter quickly and efficiently bagged the order, taking care to read the ticket to be certain that all items were accounted for. He called out the shopper's name, and presented the completely filled bag. But, when the shopper reached for the bag, the expediter said in a nasty tone, Could you wait until I am finished? When told that it looked as though he *were* finished he responded, I haven't tied up the bag Other parties present and waiting for their own orders noticed this exchange and remarked about it. The horrid quality of the entree, and equally horrid customer service are inexcusable for a meal which cost almost $15, and at a restaurant chain that is usually consistent in their quality.
They done me so dirty tonight. I was so patient and kind with the staff even after waiting 40 minutes for my food. Not only did they get my order wrong after going over it 4 times the girl working the window straight up lied to my face. McFarland has way better service. Save your time and go there.
I have never been disappointed whenever I visit this restaurant. This time, we decided to dine in and the tables were spaced out for social distancing. All the staff were wearing masks and provided excellent service. While the drive-thru service may sometimes lack high-quality customer service, the food never disappoints.
